This project invited Asian, African and South-American students to share their experiences on studying at KU Leuven with us. We particularly focussed on academic and social-cultural challenges. Apart from providing us with new insights on acculturation processes of sojourners, the project also transformed the students through the group discussions organised. They became aware of their own cultural biases. Based on the findings we conclude that the most intense experiences are probably not achieved through facilitating the students stay and make them feel 'at home', but by promoting a pedagogy of discomfort that stimulates them to think outside of their own cultural box and consider the best of both worlds.
